Pediatric Dentist in Medina, OH

Children can be very nervous when they first come to the dentist’s office. After all, dental visits are full of new sights, sounds, and smells that are very unfamiliar to children. If you are the parent of a young child who hasn’t been to the dentist yet, or if your family needs a new dentist for future treatments, now is the perfect time to discover a new children's dentist in Medina, OH.

At Sinick Family Dental, we take the scariness out of coming to the dentist.

When you and your family arrive at our dental office, our friendly clinical staff is there to greet you. Our dentists and the rest of the team will take the time to get to know your little ones and make them feel at home.

Most children are afraid because of the unknown quality of the dentist, but we know that once children get to know us, they are much less likely to fear. Over time, we will explain everything to your child so that they feel entirely comfortable with us and the work we do.

We invite you to schedule a time to meet with our children’s dentists, Drs. Christopher and Jessica Sinick, by calling us at (330) 725-9851. If we are a good fit for your family, we’d be happy to schedule your first cleanings and exams at our dental office!

Why Are Baby Teeth So Important?

Many parents wonder if children's dentistry is that important when baby teeth eventually fall out. The answer is—yes! Here's why.

Hold Space

Baby teeth hold space and guide adult teeth into the correct position.

Solid Foods

Baby teeth introduce your little one to the joys of eating solid foods.

Speech

Baby teeth help your child form their first words and learn to talk.

We will be back!

Took my 5 year old for a 2nd opinion on how to approach a cavity. Dr Sinick was incredibly helpful explaining in detail what does and doesn’t need to be done. His team was very warm and welcoming, always checking in with my daughter. She LOVED her visit! We will be back!

Children's Dentistry for All Ages

At Sinick Family Dental, we want to be your child’s dentist from the time they get their first tooth until they’re grown with families of their own. Because our patients are the most essential part of our dental practice, our goal is to provide excellent, comprehensive dental care to every one of them for life.

Starting Early

We know that successful dental habits begin early on, which is why we see kids of every age. Your child should visit us for the first time either before their first birthday or when their first tooth erupts—whichever happens first. After your child’s first visit with us, we’ll continue to monitor their teeth and begin comprehensive dental treatments as they leave their toddler years behind.

A Family Approach

We take the time to get to know your child, and we will offer suggestions for both you and them. As the parent of a young dental patient, you are partially responsible for their oral health and their success in learning how to maintain a healthy smile.

As a Medina, OH children’s dentist, we understand that a large part of caring for children is providing them with education about their oral health. Once they know how to brush and floss their teeth on their own, your life will be easier, too!

We encourage you to bring your little ones with you to your dental appointments so they can get to see what a visit to the dentist is like. If you make it a habit to visit the dentist every six months together as a family, every one of you will have a better shot at great oral health and at keeping dental visits a regular part of your lives.

Age-Appropriate Treatment

On your child’s first visit, we will gradually introduce them to all the different noises they will hear and things they will see around the treatment room. Depending on how old they are, we may start by simply brushing their teeth.

If your child does need a specific treatment, we will take the time to explain everything to them and make them feel as comfortable as they can be. We strive to be a painless dental office, and we go to great lengths to make this a reality for our adult patients as well as the children we have the privilege of seeing.

You will always make the final call for any potential treatments for your child. We are your Medina, OH kids’ dentist, but we still believe that decisions about your child’s health care should be up to you. If you ever have questions about a treatment we’re suggesting or want to know more about your alternative options, don’t hesitate to ask.

Making Children's Dentistry in Medina Fun!

Even if you introduce your child to the world of dentistry in a gradual way, it’s normal for them to feel a little overwhelmed by everything that happens at their dentist’s office. We know that distraction is sometimes the best way to help anxious children, so we provide ways for them to “escape” from their dental visit while we clean their teeth.

In each treatment room, we have flat-screen televisions with DirecTV. Your child will be able to pick their favorite television show to watch. This will help them remain calm and enjoy coming to see the dentist. We also have headphones your child can use to help block out the noise of their visit.

You are welcome to bring a personal item you feel may help your child relax. If they would prefer to listen to music with headphones or hold a favorite toy while we treat them, then that is just fine! We want to make children’s dentistry in Medina as easy as it can be for your family.

Frequently Asked Questions

children's dentist medina | child with paint on handsWe love seeing your little ones at our Medina dentist office!

As your children's dentist in Medina, we typically begin seeing children when they are around three years old. We encourage parents to bring their children along with them to their own cleaning appointments so they will become used to being at the dental office and see that it is not a scary place. If you have any questions about your child’s teeth or how to take care of them, please let us know.

We Work With Patients At Any Age

Although we typically start seeing kids around age three, we'll be happy to see your child no matter how old they are. At your child’s first dental appointment, we will take the time to get them familiar with all the equipment and noise they will hear when they come to the dentist. If they are really young when they come to visit us for the first time, we may simply brush their teeth and take a look around their mouth to make sure they don’t have any cavities.

It is important to ensure that every experience at the dentist's office is a good one. We go to great lengths to try to make this happen. At the end of the appointment, your child can pick a prize out of our prize box as well! So if you're interested in making an appointment for your child, then please, call our Medina dental office!

children's dentist medinaTeeth discolor for a variety of reasons. In adults, the discoloration can be linked to smoking, coffee, tea, bright sauces, and normal aging. In children, yellow teeth can mean plaque or tartar buildup or thin or defective enamel. If your child has thin enamel it can mean a more yellowish tone to teeth.

If your child is old enough to brush on their own, you might supervise brushing and flossing for a while if you notice yellowing teeth. If your child is younger and you’re still brushing their teeth, ask your child’s dentist in Medina for a few pointers to help make the brushing session more effective. Your dentist may also suggest a fluoride treatment or dental sealant to help protect your child’s teeth.

And remember, it’s important that your child visit the dentist in Medina twice yearly for dental exams and teeth cleanings—the latter when age-appropriate.

With a good partnership between yourself and your child’s dentist, you can help your child realize a lifetime of healthy teeth.

If you notice yellowing teeth or other dental health issues in your child, contact our dental office to schedule an exam. Also, get in touch if you have any questions about brushing and flossing your child’s teeth.

Believe it or not, children should visit their dentist every six months, just like their parents. Sometimes, parents ask us why early dental visits are so important. The reason is that they help build positive relationships for successful future dental appointments.

Early visits also allow us to begin monitoring your child's oral development. Awareness of any concerns early on helps parents be proactive about their child's oral health, which typically means fewer invasive and costly treatment procedures are needed.

Why Are Baby Teeth So Important?

Many parents ask us why protecting baby teeth is so critical if they only fall out in future. The truth is baby teeth have several important jobs to complete before they fall out:

  • Introduction to solid foods — Baby teeth allow your child to experience and enjoy solid foods. These are exciting times!
  • Forming first words — Baby teeth help your little one form their first words and learn to speak. Can't wait to hear what they have to say!
  • Guiding adult teeth — Baby teeth are the space holders and guides for future adult teeth. Completing your child's precious smile!
