A Look Inside the Minds of Children When They Think about the Dentist
At Sinick Family Dentistry, we welcome patients of all ages – including children. As part of our commitment to our community, offering children’s dentistry in our Medina dental office helps us work with parents to develop a healthy foundation for the future of the most precious smiles.
Developing a positive attitude about dentistry and their dentist will help children learn what they need to know to care for their own teeth and gums when they are ready.
What Forms Children’s Opinions?
A recent study published in the US National Library of Medicine looked at what forms children’s opinions about their trips to the dental office, and the kids revealed some interesting information about how they perceive their dental care – and their dentist.
Overall, kids who visited the dentist earlier in life had a more positive view of their dental visits, and they liked a dentist who dressed “like a dentist” including wearing a mask and protective eyewear. Kids also had positive perceptions when older siblings spent time in the chair first.
Our Commitment to Families
We know that it’s tough to make it to the dentist for even routine exams. Families are busier than ever. Work, school, sports and other activities all compete for your valuable time.
For every member of your family to achieve optimum oral health, regular dental exams and cleanings are necessary. We strive to stay on time, respecting your schedule and give you an accurate estimate of how long it should take.
Special care is required when treating children.
- We avoid scary language
- We encourage curiosity and questions
